On Thursday, last week, I filed to be the next Mayor of South Padre Island. I didn’t file to run against any particular candidate

I filed to get the island back together.

I believe that our Island has made great progress in the past 20 years and that we have been fortunate enough to enjoy the fruits of this progress.

Recent events have made us sit back and ponder South Padre and its future.

My main goal and hopefully our residents’ is to make South Padre the best it can be.

I, as many people, comprehend that we are a tourist based economy, with a large group of full time residents.

My goal is to get South Padre back to its positive nature. We need to listen to our fellow citizens and make the best decisions for everyone. Our common goal is OUR Island.

As a citizen of South Padre for over 20 years, I believe that we should do the following:

A. Get back to our charter. The Mayor, and city council, doesn’t run our Island. It is operated by our City Manager. This is a definite prescription from our City Charter.

B. Resolve our lack of decorum that has become a recent burden. Our council members, including our mayor, need to hold our residents, our city employees and our guest to the highest regards.

For those who do not know me, I have lived on the Island since 2005, and have worked here since 1997. I have also vacationed here since 1976.

I am a father of 14 years.

I own a construction company, Willis Development, and was a founding partner in SPI Rentals and a partner at Troy Giles Realty & Management.

I am currently the chairman of Planning & Zoning. I am also serving on the Shoreline Tasks forcé and the Comprehensive plan. I also have served on the capital improvement plan.

I look forward to your support.

Thank you
